If I were a teacher

If I were a teacher I would use ALEX to help make lesson plans and find out other information about different subjects. There are several examples of lesson plans that you can choose from and the variety would make learning for the students more fun and hopefully more interesting. It also offers some great examples of hands on projects you can use to get the child motivated. If a child is able to do something and not just listen about it, they will be more likely to remember the material.

The site also has information for teachers about grant opportunities. A teacher at a school I work for obtained a grant to plant trees and other plants that are native to Alabama. The children are allowed to help plant what is chosen. This will allow the children to learn about the plants and trees chosen and also to learn the skill of gardening.

ALEX

ALEX stands for Alabama Learning Exchange. This is a website that provides many uses to teachers and administrators. There are three areas in which you can research. These areas are Courses of Study, Web Links and Create Lesson Plans.
The Courses of Study lets you look at individual subjects and gather information on each. The Web Links category has two sub-categories for teacher and administrator. There are several categories under the sub-category teacher that will be useful to educators. The last and probably most used is the lesson plan category. Teachers can get lesson plans for specific objectives. This is a great website.
